Babysitting: May be possible by arrangement in advance.

Banking: Most banks are located on Trafalgar Street. Each also has an automated teller outside of its premises.

Check in Time: Standard check-in time is 2pm. However, if the cottage has been vacant the night before, you may check in anytime after 10am provided prior arrangements have been made.

Check-out time: standard check-out time is 10am. However, if there are no incoming guests, a later time may be arranged provided that arrangement is made before check-out day.

Churches: There are many different faith represented in Nelson. The Saturday Nelson Mail newspaper provides up-to-date information and timetables of services.

Conference Facilities: There are several locations handy to South Street. Should the need arise we can secure space for your meeting needs.

Doctor and Emergency Medical Services: Nelson Region After Hours & Duty Doctor. This office is located at 96 Waimea Road, Nelson. Tel.no. 03 546 8881. The office is approximately 2 minutes from South Street. See directions to Nelson Hospital, also on Waimea Road.

Electric Power: New Zealand operates on 220/30 Watts, 50 cycle, D.C. current. Most European, Asian, Japanese, Chinese, and Australian appliances will work provided they are fitted with the correct plug or adaptor. If you have a European plug or other, adaptors are provided. *Special Note: American appliances are not to be used in N.Z.

Emergencies: New Zealand’s emergency service may be reached by dialling 111. This number reaches police, fire and ambulance services.

Farmers Market: Is held every Wednesday from 8am till 1pm 23 Halifax Street. It sells fresh, seasonal local produce.

Fire Extinguisher: located at the back door entry to the kitchen. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with its location and how it functions.

First Aid Kit: Located in the bathroom nearest the front door, on the shelf.

Games: We have several games for your enjoyment. These are located under the coffee table in the lounge.

Hospital: Should the need arise, the Nelson Hospital is located on Waimea Road, which is left coming out of South Street and then left again at the Mercedes dealership on to Rutherford Street. This runs into Waimea Road and the hospital is about 3km along on the right side. The Emergency Room entrance is well marked and is just off Waimea Road.

Housekeeping: Sojourn Cottages offers self catering accommodation, however, for stays of 8 nights or longer, a linen changing service is provided for bedding and restocking of towels, etc, partway through your stay. This service will start at approximately 10am unless other arrangements have been made. A full houseclean at this time can be arranged for a cost of $50.

Nelson City Visitor Information Point: Located within the Nelson Provincial Museum on the corner of Trafalgar & Hardy Street. Open 7 days 10am-4pm 03 548 2304.

Iron & Ironing Board: Located in the closet in the office/foyer. Please be certain to unplug the iron after use and leave to cool on stone top in kitchen.

Keys: Unless met by me on your arrival, at which time I would leave you with keys, house keys will be left in the keysafe on the right-hand side of the garage door and a code for the safe given to you. Please leave the keys in the keysafe again on your departure. Another set of keys will be left for you in the kitchen. The garage door is operated by remote entry only. Press the larges button on the keypad, next to the kitchen door, which leads to the driveway.

Laundry / Drycleaning: We have provided you with a modern Bosch washer and dryer. Low Suds Soap is provided for your convenience. For dry cleaning service we recommend Master Valet Dry Cleaners and Laundry. They are located at 14 Gloucester Street, Nelson.

Lost and Found: Should you forget some of your belongings we will forward these to you via mail. We would appreciate being reimbursed for the cost of any postage

Mail / Postage: The Post Office is located within Paper Plus, 237 Trafalgar Street.

Maintenance: If something breaks or is broken and comes to your attention, please notify the housekeeper or leave a note in the kitchen counter for her attention. If it is urgent, please call Linda on 021 663992.

Newspapers: The Nelson Mail is the local newspaper and an afternoon edition is available from dairies, petrol stations and supermarkets. The Press is a large newspaper from out of Christchurch and is readily available in many Nelson outlets.

Restaurants: Many restaurants are within walking distance from South Street.

Sewing Kit: A sewing kit is located in the office/foyer closet on the shelf.

Sports & recreation: Numerous sporting and recreation activities are available in the Nelson Region. Many activities around Nelson are listed here. We also have a collection of brochures in the cottage which offers a range of local activities.

Smoking: Sojourn Cottage is NON SMOKING. We kindly ask that you please refrain from smoking due to the fire hazard in this historical area. We thank you for your cooperation.

Storage: Should you be traveling around the South Island and returning to Nelson to stay with us, we would be happy to store any items until your return.
